Carmine M. Leonardis, "Cary Leonard" 88 passed away Tuesday March 2, 2010.
Born in Newark to the late Pasquale and Grace, he lived in Ocean, Bloomfield and Cedar Grove.
Mr. Leonardis Owned and operated the Custom Gentleman, a men's clothing shop on Commerce St., and also Anton's Men's Clothing both in Newark until 1967. In the 1940's he sang at the Blue Diamond Club in Newark. He also worked for Railway Express for 14 years. He served in the United States Army during World War 2. An impeccable dresser, he designed custom made suits and shirts including the original two tone collar and cuff shirts.
Mr. Leonardis is survived by his daughter Linda Bartolotta of Wantage, NJ, grandson Carmine Cavaliere of Hamilton, NJ, and sister Christine Pizzuto of Belleville, NJ. He was predeceased by his grandson Joseph Cavaliere Jr., brothers James, Peter, Anthony, Nicholas, sisters Jsephine Molinaro and Mildred Meola.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St.Jude's Children's Hospital.
